Alfred University set to launch Space Materials Institute
Alfred University announced the launch of its new Space Materials Institute, which will help advance the science and technology of materials in support of aerospace and outer space exploration. The Institute will be officially launched on Thursday, Nov. 7, immediately following the prestigious John F. McMahon Memorial Lecture.
New center for aerospace and defense manufacturing research and education coming to Florida
The Applied Science & Technology Research Organization of America and Florida State University will work together to establish the Institute for Strategic Partnerships, Innovation, Research, and Education (InSPIRE) as a major center for aerospace and defense manufacturing research and education in northwest Florida.
HWI, a member of Calderys, to construct lightweight monolithics facility in Missouri
HarbisonWalker International, a member of the Calderys Group, announced that it will expand in Fulton, Mo., investing $13.9 million. The expansion includes the construction of an additional, state-of-the-art, lightweight monolithics refractories manufacturing facility that will increase production capacity by approximately 60% while enhancing product availability.

ExxonMobil announces licensing agreement to expand proprietary rebar processing technology
ExxonMobil announced a strategic licensing agreement with Neuvokas Corporation, producer of GatorBar, an industry leading glass-fiber-reinforced polymer composite rebar. Under this agreement, ExxonMobil obtained exclusive rights to sublicense Neuvokas’ proprietary manufacturing process in markets outside of North America.
