AGI glaspac on track to open clear glass plant in January
Indian glass manufacturer AGI glaspac is on schedule to open a clear glass plant in Bhongir, India, in January 2022. The container glass plant will be supplied by a 154 t/day furnace from Horn Glass Industries, which will serve six IS Machines.
Schott to invest €70 million in Chinese pharmaceutical glass manufacturing facility
German technology group Schott is to double its manufacturing capacity for pharmaceutical glass tubing in China. The new tubing plant in Jinyun, China, was inaugurated precisely a year ago. Shortly after, its capacity was increased by 100%. Now, capacity is to be increased further with an investment of €70 million.

ASTM International acquires global additive manufacturing leader Wohlers Associates
Global standards organization ASTM International announced the acquisition of Wohlers Associates, a global intelligence leader in the additive manufacturing and 3D printing industry. As part of the acquisition, ASTM International acquires the Wohlers Report, the premier publication for the additive manufacturing industry.
Euclid Chemical acquires liquid concrete admixtures manufacturer
Euclid Chemical, a leading manufacturer of concrete and masonry construction products, announced its recent acquisition of the business of Brett Admixtures, which has exclusively manufactured and commercially promoted Euclid solutions since 1998.
Materialise to acquire Link3D for US$33.5M
Materialise, an additive manufacturing solutions company headquartered in Belgium, agreed to exercise its previously announced option to acquire Link3D Inc., an additive workflow and digital manufacturing software company headquartered in Boulder, Colorado.
GenCell and E.V. Motors partner to facilitate autonomous hybrid off-grid EV charging
Israeli companies GenCell Energy and E.V. Motors Ltd. agreed to cooperate on the development of a joint project integrating GenCell’s alkaline fuel cells together with E.V. Motors’ electric vehicle charging technologies to enable autonomous off-grid hybrid electric vehicle charging stations that eliminate the need for fossil fuel backup generators.
IEA launches cross-border electricity trading roadmap for Tajikistan
The International Energy Agency developed an energy policy Roadmap on Cross-Border Electricity Trading for Tajikistan to help Tajikistan and its neighbours develop their common infrastructure to create a regional electricity market and expand renewables.
CBRE, Altus Power announce technology partnership to advance clean energy generation
CBRE Group, Inc., a commercial real estate firm, and Altus Power, Inc., a market-leading clean electrification company, partnered to develop an advanced proprietary tool to identify locally sited clean energy opportunities that help commercial real estate owners and occupiers meet their energy needs while reducing their carbon footprints.
Low Carbon partners with MassMutual to accelerate transition to renewable energy
UK-based Low Carbon Limited and the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company joined forces to build a leading global renewable energy Independent Power Producer. The new partnership, which will target 20GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, will leverage each business’s unique position in the market and domain expertise.
US, Australia agree to collaborate on rare earth metals supply
U.S. and Australian officials agreed in Singapore to further collaborate on the supply of rare earth materials that are critical in the production of clean energy technology such as electric vehicles. The agreement comes as the United States seeks to reduce its reliance on China for rare earth elements.
Sorg, EME, and Grenzebach collaborate on Indian solar glass project
German businesses SORG, EME, and Grenzebach have teamed up to supply Indian glass manufacturer Triveni Renewables with their technologies. Triveni Renewables is building a manufacturing plant with a melting capacity of 240 tpd. The construction will help the company take advantage of the Indian solar glass market.

O-I creates community-based recycling program
O-I has created “Glass4Good,” a community-based program to incentivize glass recycling at its facilities. The O-I Charities Foundation will make a series of financial contributions based on the amount of recycled glass collected. Glass4Good also will explore public-private partnerships to overcome barriers to glass recycling.
China is building a new ship for sea launches to space
China is building a specially designed ship for launching rockets into space from the seas in an effort to boost its capacity to launch satellites and recover rocket stages. The 533 feet (162.5 meters) long, 131 feet (40 meters) wide “New-type rocket launching vessel” is expected to enter service in 2022.
Pilkington UK appoints managing director
Pilkington UK appointed Neil Syder as managing director to lead the glass manufacturer as it adapts to an age of decarbonization and targets new opportunities. Syder takes over from Matt Buckley, who is retiring after serving as managing director for more than a decade. The change takes effect at the end of December.

Corning Inc. announces Velocity Vials to help speed delivery of COVID-19 vaccines
Corning Incorporated introduced Corning Velocity Vials, which the company says will help “industry-leading drugmakers respond to the COVID-19 pandemic at speed.” The specially engineered Type I borosilicate vials are externally coated with the company’s “proprietary technology” to increase efficiency and speed of the Velocity Vials’ manufacturing.

Emerson introduces EasyHeat slab heating system for suspended concrete floors
To reduce utility expenses and HVAC maintenance requirements, Emerson introduced its new EasyHeat Elevated Slab Heating System. Composed of self-regulating or mineral insulated heating cables, power distribution controls, and accessories, the system comes with strapping to mount on the underside of a concrete slab.
