Eco Wave Power received the final nationwide permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for its wave energy pilot project at the Port of Los Angeles, marking a step toward the first U.S. onshore wave energy installation.

SoCalGas, GKN Hydrogen, and NREL begin solid-state hydrogen storage demo project

Southern California Gas Co. and GKN Hydrogen commissioned a research demonstration project with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. It involves using GKN Hydrogen’s storage technology to store hydrogen in a solid state (metal hydrides) compared to traditional gaseous storage tanks.

Consortium spurs development of 408 MW of renewable energy

The Consortium for Climate Solutions, which includes Massachusetts Institute of Technology and 10 other Massachusetts organizations, enabled the development of two new large-scale renewable energy projects in regions with carbon-intensive electrical grids: Big Elm Solar in Texas, which came online in 2024, and the Bowman Wind Project in North Dakota, which is expected to be operational in 2026.
