Philippines inaugurates maiden agrivoltaic and storage system
The Philippines inaugurated its first agrivoltaic project, combining 197 MW of solar power with 320 MWh of storage. This project is part of the country’s plans to install 5 GW of clean energy by 2030, advancing the Philippines’ renewable energy share target to 50%.
AgniKul opens its new Chennai facility to 3D print meter-scale rocket engines
Space startup AgniKul Cosmos set up what it calls India’s first private large format additive manufacturing facility for aerospace and rocket systems at the IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai. The new site builds on the company’s earlier effort in 2022, when it opened Rocket Factory-1, described as India’s first dedicated facility for 3D-printed rocket engines.
TerraPower, Evergy, and the state of Kansas to explore advanced nuclear energy deployment
TerraPower, Evergy, and the Kansas Department of Commerce signed a memorandum of understanding to explore siting TerraPower’s flagship technology, the Natrium reactor and energy storage system, within Evergy’s service territory in Kansas.
Rolls-Royce, Landmark, and ASCO commission UK gas engine power plant with CO2 recovery
Rolls-Royce, energy services provider Landmark, and carbon dioxide specialist ASCO teamed up to commission a 10-megawatt gas engine power plant with a carbon capture system in the United Kingdom. The plant will capture up to 30,000 tons of CO2 per year.

Ucore enters into strategic partnership with Metallium Limited
Ucore Rare Metals Inc. signed a strategic technology collaboration agreement with Metallium Limited. Metallium’s flash joule heating process, developed at Rice University, can upgrade rare earth mineral concentrates to mixed rare earth chlorides, which will then be refined into purified rare earth oxides using Ucore’s RapidSXTM technology.
Ara Partners acquires Microtec to advance concrete decarbonization efforts
Houston-based Ara Partners acquired Florida-based Microtec Development & Holdings LLC. Through the partnership, Microtec plans to accelerate the rollout of facilities for its commercial application, AggrePlex, across the U.S. and internationally. Microtec’s AggrePlex centers on the recycling of end-of-life glass into ground glass pozzolan for concrete.
Fortera secures Microsoft funding for low-carbon cement production
To accelerate the adoption of low-carbon building materials across its datacenter footprint, Microsoft made an investment in green cement manufacturer Fortera. The investment secures Microsoft’s rights to procure Fortera’s ReAct low-carbon cement and environmental attribute certificates.
Sustainable Concrete Buyers Alliance to accelerate adoption of low-carbon building materials
RMI and the Center for Green Market Activation launched the Sustainable Concrete Buyers Alliance, a buyers group formed to collectively procure environmental attribute certificates for low-carbon concrete. Founding members include Amazon, Prologis, and Meta.
Ontario Power Generation and UK Atomic Energy Authority Group partner on clean energy
Ontario Power Generation and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority Group signed a memorandum of understanding for Ontario to work toward supplying tritium to support the UKAEA’s world-leading fusion research and energy development projects.
Taiwan partners with Germany on hydrogen energy technology
Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute signed a cooperation agreement with Germany’s Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH to develop and integrate advanced hydrogen fuel cell power systems using the microgrid platform at Tainan’s Shalun Green Energy Technology Demonstration Site.

Electricity generation costs would be up to 50% higher if Australia stuck with coal and gas only
In a recent study, Griffith University experts showed that the 30% increase in consumer power bills since 2021 in Australia would have been worse under a fossil fuel-only scenario. Specifically, their modeling suggested the cost of generating electricity would be as much as 50% higher today.
