Corning and Optiemus inaugurate Gorilla Glass finishing facility in Tamil Nadu
Corning Inc. and Optiemus Infracom officially inaugurated the Bharat Innovative Glass Technologies facility, which will deliver high-quality cover-glass components for the mobile consumer electronics industry in India.
Solar glass factory to open in Ohio next year
Float-glass manufacturer Stewart Engineers is opening a solar glass manufacturing facility in Logan, Ohio, and expects production to begin in March 2026. The company will make two types of 3.2-mm low-iron rolled solar glass, one with anti-reflective coatings for the front and one for the backside without anti-reflective properties.
Lithoz installs Cerafab printers to Safran Aircraft Engines
Lithoz announced the installation of three Cerafab System S65 printers at Safran Aircraft Engines Gennevilliers. This investment will enable the French engine manufacturer to build up the serial production of complex casting cores at industrial scale.
Malaysia’s first large-scale battery storage system inaugurated in Sabah
A 100MW/400MWh battery energy storage system, the biggest project of its kind by output in Southeast Asia, started operation in Sabah, Malaysia. The project aims to reduce power supply disruption risk on the eastern coast of Sabah, one of two Malaysian states on the island of Borneo.
Landmark deal gives North America its first heavy rare earth refinery
The Saskatchewan Research Council’s facility in Saskatoon is North America’s first rare-earth complex designed to integrate monazite processing, separation, and metal production at a commercial scale. A new agreement with U.S. heavy rare earths magnet startup REalloys will add a full heavy rare earth line, which is due to start operating in early 2027.

Helical Fusion signs Japan’s first power purchase agreement for fusion energy
Helical Fusion Co., Ltd. signed a power purchase agreement with Aoki Super Co., Ltd., a major regional supermarket chain in central Japan. This deal marks the first fusion energy power purchase agreement ever signed in Japan.
GKN Aerospace and Norwegian Catapult boost national AM capabilities in Norway
GKN Aerospace Norway and Norwegian Catapult Manufacturing Technology in Kongsberg established a strategic agreement to invest in and expand advanced additive manufacturing capabilities at the GKN Aerospace engines facility in Kongsberg. Under the initiative, Norwegian Catapult and the Industrial Growth Company will co-invest NOK 12 million (nearly £1 million).
Initiative to develop full system cost approach to resilient and carbon-neutral electricity systems
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and partners are working to develop a full system cost approach to guide investments toward resilient and carbon-neutral electricity systems. A series of multistakeholder consultations will take place throughout 2026.

Battery pack prices decline 8% to new low in 2025
Prices of lithium-ion battery packs declined 8% in 2025 from 2024 to a new record low of US$108 per kWh, according to a BloombergNEF report. The fall is attributed to ongoing overcapacity in cell manufacturing, intense competition, and the shift to cheaper lithium iron phosphate batteries. It came despite an increase in battery metal prices in 2025.
