Ximin Glass breaks ground on $70 million Egypt site

Ximin Glass Egypt has begun construction on a $70 million glass factory located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The plant is a joint project between Elsewedy Industrial Development and Xinmin Glass Egypt, a subsidiary of Chinese parent company Anhui Xinmin Glass. The factory will produce glass tableware, borosilicate products, and kitchenware.

Amrize expands production capacity at flagship US cement plant

Amrize commissioned the production expansion of its cement plant in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. The expansion adds 660,000 short tons of production capacity per year, increasing the plant’s total capacity to 5.5 million short tons annually.

Vidrala reaches an agreement to enter the Chilean market

Spain-based Vidrala signed a binding agreement for the acquisition of Cristalerías Toro, a Chile-based manufacturer of glass containers for the food and beverage segments. This acquisition is part of Vidrala’s internationalization strategy, through which the company maintains significant positions in Southern Europe, the United Kingdom and, since 2023, Brazil.

ONERA bets on 3DCeram’s MAT platform to advance AM of ultrahigh-temperature ceramics

The French Aerospace Lab ONERA is working with 3DCeram to explore additive manufacturing for ultrahigh-temperature ceramics. 3DCeram successfully 3D-printed ZrB₂–SiC components on its M.A.T platform using  Zetamix UHTC filaments developed by Nanoe and ONERA-defined test geometries.

Rare earth element technologies developed at Mines licensed by Australian mining company

Colorado School of Mines entered an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement with Australian-headquartered mining company Bayan Mining and Minerals Limited and its U.S. subsidiary for a suite of four patented rare earth element processing technologies that target higher rare earth element recovery and lower processing costs from bastnaesite-dominant ores.

Furno and Maschmeyer agree to produce cement using recycled concrete

Furno Materials signed an agreement with ready-mix concrete producer Maschmeyer Concrete for the use of its compact modular cement kiln technology. Maschmeyer Concrete plans to operate the kilns using its 90,000t/yr of waste concrete as a feedstock. The company will build an initial 50,000t/yr-capacity mini cement plant in Florida.

China says it is granting new, streamlined rare earth export licenses

China’s Commerce Ministry said the country had granted several general licenses ‌for rare earth exports, a new category of permit ‌that aims to speed up shipments of the vital elements. Reuters reported that ⁠suppliers to U.S. automaker Ford received the new ​licenses, but no European company has yet confirmed receiving ‍one.
