Gigantic Form Energy battery to power Google data center in Minnesota
Form Energy invented a novel iron–air battery to store clean energy for much longer time frames than lithium-ion batteries. The startup is still constructing its first commercial project in Minnesota, but it has now clinched a potentially game-changing follow-up in the same state to support a Google data center.
US offshore wind projects report progress after resuming offshore work
Three of the five offshore wind projects under construction in the northeast U.S. signaled strong progress this past week. It comes after each project received preliminary injunctions against the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, which had imposed stop-work orders in late December 2025.
Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant takes big step toward extending life until 2030
The Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board voted unanimously to approve a five-year permit that allows the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant to release up to 2.76 billion gallons of wastewater per day into the Pacific Ocean. The majority of that wastewater is seawater PG&E uses to cool the power plant.

AGY, a manufacturer of advanced specialty glass fibers, partnered with JPS Composite Materials LLC to manufacture and produce the first North American-based low coefficient of thermal expansion glass fiber fabric designed specifically for advanced integrated circuit substrates and next-generation semiconductor packaging technologies.
