UK to build the world’s first commercial-scale hydrogen-fired brick kiln plant
Building materials firm Wienerberger UK & Ireland secured government-backed funding to replace natural gas kilns with systems powered by green hydrogen at its Denton brickworks facility in Greater Manchester. Once complete, the facility is set to become the world’s first commercial-scale hydrogen-fired brick plant.
Intel and 3DGS to set up semiconductor substrate plant in Odisha
U.S. chipmaker Intel and Arizona-based 3D Glass Solutions signed an agreement with the Odisha state government to set up an advanced packaging glass-core substrate manufacturing facility in the Indian state. The proposed project could see investment of around US$3.3 billion.
First RITM-200 reactor unit manufactured for floating nuclear plant
The RITM-200C reactor will be one of two to be installed on the first of Russia’s planned fleet of floating nuclear power units. Russia’s first floating nuclear power plant has been operating in Chukotka since 2020. A version of a floating power unit targeting international markets would be 100 MWe with a refueling interval of 10 years and a service life of 60 years.
