Yageo secures syndicated loan to acquire American rival

Yageo Corp., Taiwan’s largest passive electronics component maker, secured a syndicated loan of a record NT$48.5 billion (US$1.62 billion) to fund its acquisition of American rival Kemet Corp. The acquisition deal is expected to be completed in the third quarter.

Poonawalla-backed fuel cell maker h2e Power acquires Swiss firm Hexis AG

Poonawalla Group-backed Indian clean-tech startup h2e Power, which makes solid oxide fuel cells, acquired Swiss fuel cell specialist Hexis AG. Plans are to build large manufacturing capacity in Pune, India, for the Indian and global markets.

World’s ‘largest all electric commercial aircraft’ completes its first flight

The Cessna 208B Grand Caravan completed its maiden flight, the latest example of a zero-emission form of transport taking to the skies. The plane’s 750-horsepower all-electric motor was developed by magniX, an electric motor manufacturer.

Forglass, the Polish batch plant and furnace technology supplier, developed an “intelligent” scraping conveyor, named SmartScraper. Equipped with Overload Protection System, the design uses electronic sensors to continually monitor the working conditions of the conveyor, diagnose problems, and react instantly to changes in operation.
