- Operating profit posted by Kenmare Resources from its heavy sands project in Moma, Mozambique, fell by 85 percent to US $6.8 million in the first half of the year due to increased production costs, a drop in prices, and lower demand on the international market, the company says in reporting its first-half results (pdf).
- Blast furnace 1 at Visakhapatnam Steel’s Godavari plant Plant’s is scheduled to undergo category 1 repairs starting at the end of this month. The furnace, which has produced over 35 million metric tons of hot metal since 1990, will undergo category 1 repairs for the first time.
