Brick lovers rejoice—the winners of this year’s Brick in Architecture Awards have been announced!

The Brick in Architecture Awards, sponsored by the Brick Industry Association since 1989, recognize exceptional uses of clay brick in architecture. Architectural and design firms can enter their designs in nine different categories:

  • Commercial
  • Education, K–12
  • Higher education (colleges, universities)
  • Historic renovation
  • International (project located outside of the U.S., Canada, or U.S. territory)
  • Residential, single family
  • Residential, multifamily
  • Paving and landscaping
  • Thin brick

An additional “Craftsmanship” award is given to one of the entries to recognize an individual mason or a team of masons “who skillfully install brick in an artful/unique way.”

The Brick Industry Association chose 39 winning projects spanning the United States, Canada, China, England, Mexico, and Russia. This year, the winners highlight brick’s “limitless versatility” to create inspired, sustainable designs that achieve any aesthetic, according to Brick Industry Association President and CEO Tricia Mauer.

“With the unpredictability of natural disasters, brick provides peace of mind—brick stands for good,” she says in a press release.
