The Michigan/Northwest Ohio Section of ACerS invites all to its annual dinner to present The Toledo Glass and Ceramic Award on April 27, 2017, at Heather Downs Country Club in Toledo, Ohio.
If you’re planning to attend Ceramics Expo 2017 in Cleveland, the event is only a little more than an hour and a half drive away—Why not wrap up your week with an evening to network with others in the glass and ceramic community and honor one of ACerS’ own distinguished scientists?
The 2017 honoree is Dr. Kang N. Lee, a pioneer in environmental barrier coatings for silicon-based ceramics. He is currently working on the development of advanced EBC for silicon carbide ceramic matrix composite (CMC) turbine hot section components, and applying emission spectroscopic non-destructive evaluation techniques to the coatings.
You can read some background about Lee’s work at, “Environmental Barrier Coatings for Silicon-Based Ceramics,” on the NASA Technical Reports page.
Social hour and cash bar starts at 6:00pm, followed by dinner and award presentation at 7:00pm. Cost is $55 (members and guests), $75 for non-members (includes Section membership), and $25 for students (must show student I.D.).
You must make reservations before Friday April 1, 2017. For detailed registration information, visit the Michigan/Northwest Ohio Section page on the ACerS website or contact Fred Stover directly.
