The October/November 2022 issue of ACerS Bulletin is now available online.

In this month’s issue, we look at research and markets in Turkey. In the cover story, authors Randy Hecht and Alex Talavera explore how Turkey banks on “innovation active” enterprise and technology to strengthen its economic and foreign commerce potential. In-depth market snapshots of Turkish trades, treaties, and tariffs are included. Plus, student Omer Yucel shares his experience conducting research in Turkey and the United Kingdom in the “Deciphering the Discipline” column.

An additional feature article by Mario Affatigato traces the etymological origins of various words for “glass” throughout the centuries to provide insight into the characteristics that various civilizations and people saw and valued in the material. Then, the application of glass in global solar energy markets is explored in the “Business and Market View” column.

This volume of the ACerS Bulletin is being published during the United Nations International Year of Glass. A regular column highlighting the International Year appears in each issue, and the eighth column by Eileen De Guire looks at the recent special issue of International Journal of Applied Glass Science celebrating IYOG.

Finally, the October/November issue announces the ACerS leaders for 2022–2023. The Society will install new officers and directors on the ACerS Executive Committee and Board at the 124th Annual Business Meeting in October.
