Kazuo Inamori receives honorary knighthood from Queen Elizabeth

Kazuo Inamori, a global entrepreneur and philanthropist, received the title of Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire from Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth on Nov. 28, 2019. Inamori is the founder and chairman emeritus of Kyocera and founder of the Inamori Foundation.

Schott invests €30M to open new glass-ceramic facility in Germany

Specialty glass manufacturer Schott opened a state-of-the-art CNC competence center for its glass-ceramic Zerodur in Mainz, Germany. The investment amounts to more than €30 million, and up to 70 qualified specialists will be employed at the site.

AGC to offer AREVO composite 3D printing on-demand in Japan

AREVO, a Silicon Valley-based company dedicated to the additive manufacturing of composite materials, announced AGC Inc, a Japanese global glass manufacturing company, installed its Aqua continuous carbon fiber 3D printer. AGC will use the system to provide Manufacturing-as-a-service (MaaS) for on-demand 3D printed composite parts.

Grenzebach to acquire CNUD EFCO GFT

The Grenzebach Group plans to acquire the BMT Group’s float glass engineering division CNUD EFCO GFT, which are annealing lehrs and tin bath solutions providers to over 300 float glass production lines in Belgium, Germany, Romania, and China. The technology of CNUD EFCO GFT will be integrated into Grenzebach’s Glass Business Unit.
