Turkish glass household goods maker Paşabahçe, which makes tableware and home furnishings, is in talks to acquire shares in household goods maker French Arc International. In a filing to the Istanbul Stock Exchange, Paşabahçe’s parent company Şişecam, Turkey’s largest glassmaker, stated that Paşabahçe had signed a non-disclosure agreement regarding the non-binding talks. Paşabahçe’s share in Turkey’s glass household goods market is currently 12 percent, putting it third in the market, while Arc International is the leader with 13 percent. If talks between the companies finalize with an acquisition, Paşabahçe will become the market leader, ahead of U.S. company Libbey.
Societe Africain du Verre (Africaver) of Algeria (that belongs to the state-owned Enava Group) is modernizing its patterned glass line in Jijel, which has a melting capacity of 130 TPD. To upgrade major parts of the raw material transport, dosing, and weighing, as well as parts of the batch transport, they have chosen EME Maschinenfabrik Clasen of Germany. The commission to EME will include supervison of the installation and commissioning of a new control and visualisation system.
Knauf Insulation acquires Guardian Insulation

Asahi India Glass Ltd has stopped production of float glass at its Taloja Plant (T-7, MIDC Industrial Area, Taloja, District Raigad – 410208, Maharashtra) owing to age and expiry of useful / operating life of the furnace. Further, the company is in process of taking the necessary steps to close the float-glass manufacturing unit at Taloja.
