Mexican producer Vitro is to construct a $90-million glass container plant in Brazil to serve the cosmetics, fragrances, and speciality segments; operations are expected to start in the second quarter of 2016.
Novosibirsk Glassworks “Ekran” will invest $50 million in the construction of a new glass furnace, which will produce 20-23 million bottles a month.
According to the Aluminum Middle East Exhibition, the Gulf region’s investments in the aluminium sector are forecast to reach USD 55 billion by 2020, compared to USD 30 billion in 2011, thanks to smelters’ expansion and new projects in the region.
Vesuvius plc, a global leader in molten metal engineering, announced the signing of binding agreements for the acquisition of two businesses, Ecil Met Tec and Process Metrix, in pursuit of the strategy to build a presence as a leading technical services provider to the steel and foundry industries. The total consideration for these acquisitions will be approximately GBP 30 million, and it is expected that both will complete during 2014.
