Central Glass acquires Guardian subsidiaries (pdf)

Central Glass, a parent company of Carlex Glass Company, has made a binding offer to acquire all of the outstanding shares of two subsidiaries of Guardian Industries: Guardian Automotive Products, Inc. (GAPI), and Guardian Automotive-E S.A. (GA ESA). This transaction by Central Glass includes three automotive glass manufacturing sites and the GAPI headquarters; the glass plants are located in Auburn, Indiana; Ligonier, Indiana; and Grevenmacher, Luxembourg.

Steklarna Hrastnik undergoes renovations to modernize production line

Steklarna Hrastnik of Slovenia has started renovation works in its Special division, which is responsible for producing bottles, with an investment of €8 million. The production in this division has been temporarily stopped as the company implements modernized procedures, and will be restarted on 3rd of November. During the 49 days, the reconstruction of the furnace for the production of bottles will be carried out and the production line upgraded.

Coal shortages prompt National Aluminum Co’s construction plans

Domestic coal shortages are prompting India’s National Aluminium Co (Nalco) to plan construction of a USD 3 billion smelter complex abroad, possibly in Oman or Iran. Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and UAE are other potential sites for the 500,000 t smelter and a 1,000 MW captive power plant.
