In only two months, Ceramics Expo 2019 will take place in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 30 and May 1. More than 3,000 visitors are expected to attend the two-day event, and over 45 expert speakers are lined up to engage attendees during conference sessions.

One of the expert speakers is Michael Silver, chairman and CEO of American Elements. Silver is an expert on rare earths and other critical materials, and he will be giving the Tuesday (April 30) keynote speech at 10:30 a.m. on challenges and solutions to threats to the global advanced ceramics supply chain in the 21st century.

While you will need to attend Ceramics Expo to hear the full talk, Silver gave a short interview with CNN last Friday on the importance of the United States including rare earths in the trade deal they are crafting with China. Click the picture below to be redirected to the video.

Silver’s talk at Ceramics Expo will take place directly following a 9:35 a.m. interactive panel discussion led by ACerS director of technical content and communications Eileen De Guire on growth areas, future opportunities, and challenges in ceramics. Panelists will include Willard Cutler, division vice president and commercial technology director at Corning; Patricia Mishic, chief commercial officer at CoorsTek; Mark Wolf, divisional vice president of fine ceramics operations at Kyocera International; and Johannes Homa, CEO of Lithoz GmbH.
