Webinar Description
Hosted by: The American Ceramic Society
Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, from 12–1 p.m. Eastern Time
When the Department of Defense extended the “Professional Development for Hypersonic Materials” program in 2025, ACerS and USACA committed to three goals: reach new industry and agency audiences, raise the visibility of hypersonic workforce development, and introduce K–12 students to materials science careers. At the one-year mark, we share progress toward each.
This talk will cover courses delivered to date and the audiences they’ve reached, the launch of K–12 teacher workshops developed with the Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation, and what we’ve learned about how to design training that meets engineers, technicians, and educators where they are. The session includes a preview of an upcoming course and a look at the program’s second-year priorities.
For ACerS members, this is a chance to see how the Society’s work intersects with national defense priorities, and how you can participate in or share these opportunities within your networks.
