The Ohio TechCred program removes barriers for employers looking to upskill their workforce with the skills needed in a technology-infused economy. TechCred offers reimbursements to employers who send their Ohio-resident employees through their list of industry-recognized, technologically focused courses.
There may not always be a budget readily available for workforce training, but The American Ceramic Society and Ohio TechCred can help. Ohio TechCred reimburses up to $2,000 per employee, per course in each open grant window.

A Guide to Ohio TechCred for Employers: Upskill Your Workforce
How Ohio TechCred works with ACerS
- Browse upcoming courses from the ACerS Learning Center and decide which one your employees should attend. Then apply for the Ohio TechCred program during an open grant window. There are six open grant windows each year, so be sure to apply for an open grant window that takes place before the specific course date.
- If approved, the state will then add the course to the Ohio TechCred approved credential list. Employees are required to complete the course within 12 months of the approval date.
- After the employee has completed the course, your organization must submit your reimbursement request no later than six weeks after course completion. ACerS can provide a certificate of completion to submit with your reimbursement request.
- The Ohio TechCred program reimburses your organization up to $2,000 per employee per course during a grant period. Your organization can apply for TechCred with any number of employees so long as the reimbursement doesn’t exceed $30,000 total per grant period.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Tips for TechCred Success
- The state of Ohio only accepts one reimbursement request per organization each month, so be sure to consolidate all the information you need if you have multiple employees taking courses that have different completion dates. Reimbursements must be submitted no later than six weeks after each course's completion.
- The state of Ohio only accepts an invoice made in the name of your organization, not to your individual employee(s). ACerS can create a group invoice to your company that includes all your employees if needed.
- When applying for a course that isn’t already on the credential list, it is recommended to provide as much information as possible, especially to help differentiate a course that may fall under an existing approved credential.
- The third-party vendor (ACerS) must always be paid ahead of time via course registration before you are eligible to apply for a reimbursement, but if a course is already approved, then the reimbursement process should go smoothly.
- Upload all documents in one single PDF file on the Ohio TechCred website.
