This symposium focuses on recent advances in the design, characterization and manufacturing of bioceramics, as well as bioceramic-based composites, hybrids and coatings, for healthcare applications, including scalable, reproducible, and high-performance fabrication routes and data-driven/AI-enabled approaches. We welcome topics from conventional and emerging techniques such as additive manufacturing, sintering science, biomimetic processing, and processing-structure-property relationships. In these and related areas, we encourage submissions on the use of data-driven methods and Artificial Intelligence (AI), including machine learning (ML), to optimize and design, as well as on the standardization of data generation, to drive future innovations in this space. The overall goal is to bring together people working in academia, industry, and national labs to foster discussion and collaboration in bioceramic-based devices, scaffolds, composites, hybrids, and coatings.

Session Topics:

Processing-structure-property relationships in bioceramics
Data-driven/AI-enabled approaches in bioceramic processing and design
Bioceramic fabrication and scale-up challenge
