Please read these guidelines before formatting your paper, so it’s consistent with the rest of the proceedings.

  1. Page Setup
  • Paper size: Letter (8.5″ × 11″)
  • Margins: Top 0.75″, Bottom 1″, Left 1.3″, Right 1.5″
  • Do not include page numbers.
  1. Font & Text
  • Typeface: Times New Roman, 12 pt, single-spaced, justified.
  • Paragraphs: No blank line between paragraphs; indent first line 18 pt (¼”)
  1. First Page Layout
  • Author affiliation(s) go in a footnote at the bottom of page 1, 10 pt Times New Roman, under a rule line
  • Abstract/summary begins 3.25″ from the top (leaves room for title/author block)
  • No figures, tables, or images on page 1
  1. Headings
Level Style
First-order (e.g., ABSTRACT) Bold, ALL CAPS — 2 line spaces above, 1 below
Second-order (e.g., Tables and Figures) Bold, Title Case — 1 line space above and below
Third-order (e.g., PHOTOGRAPHS) Regular font, ALL CAPS — 1 line space above and below

Never leave a heading alone at the bottom of a page.

  1. Figures & Tables
  • Place at the top or bottom of a page, near their first mention — don’t sandwich text above and below artwork
  • Leave 2–6 blank lines between artwork and body text; 1 blank line between artwork and its caption
  • Center artwork between margins
  • Labels/fonts inside artwork: Helvetica/Arial, 8–10 pt
  • Figures: “Figure #” caption centered below the image, numbered consecutively (1, 2, 3…)
  • Tables: “TABLE #” label centered above the table, Roman numerals (I, II, III…), 10 pt
  • All figures will be printed in black and white ink

  • Centered between margins
  • One blank line before and after
  • Numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals in parentheses, flush right
  • Example:

  • Numbered in the order first cited in text; cite with bracketed numbers, e.g. [2]
  • Reused sources keep their original number
  • Reference list at end of paper, 10 pt type
  • Follow standard format (journal article, book, book chapter, unpublished report, conference presentation)
