International Day of Ceramics

The American Ceramic Society (ACerS) is proud to announce its participation in the first-ever International Day of Ceramics, a global initiative established by the Japan Fine Ceramics Association, the International Ceramic Federation, and other academic and industry organizations to celebrate and promote the vital role ceramics play in our modern world.
The International Day of Ceramics will hold its first official celebration on March 12, 2026, and will be observed annually on or around March 12 thereafter.
Get Involved and Help Celebrate
Everyone is invited to take part in the International Day of Ceramics. Whether you are an individual, a student, or part of an organization, there are many fun ways to join in.

Share the celebration on social media
Help spread the word by using our ready-to-share social media graphics. Post about your work, your favorite ceramic application, or what ceramics mean to you, and join the conversation with #ceramicsday.

Show your support by adding the official logo to your website, emails, newsletters, event flyers, or other promotional materials.

Plan something special for March 12, such as a workshop, open studio or lab tour, classroom activity, talk, or event.

International Day of Ceramics Competitions
- Best Celebration of International Day of Ceramics - March 2026
Hosted by the International Ceramic Federation
Celebrate International Day of Ceramics by showcasing your most innovative events and activities. Submissions should highlight how your celebration honored ceramics in a creative, impactful way. Participants are invited to submit a brief report along with photos or a short video describing what was done and why the celebration was creative and award-worthy.
Submissions are due by April 30, 2026 and should be sent to Erica Zimmerman at ezimmerman@ceramics.org. Winners will be recognized at the International Ceramic Congress (ICC) 2026.
- PCSA Creativity Contest
Hosted by the ACerS President’s Council of Student Advisors (PCSA)
A student art contest that celebrates the blend of science and art in ceramics and glass, open to creative works like glassblowing, pottery, digital rendering, and more, with cash awards in Scientific Creativity, Artistic Creativity, and Viewer’s Choice.
