Robert “Bob” Ruh, 90, of Dayton, Ohio, died June 19, 2021.
Bob was a graduate of Rutgers University with BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in ceramics, and post doctoral studies in ceramics and crystal chemistry at Chemical Research Laboratories, Melbourne, Australia. He served as military and civilian scientist and engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in the Aerospace Research Laboratories, the Materials Laboratory, and the Signature Technology Office, Wright Laboratory. Upon retiring in 1993, he was a consultant for Universal Technology Corporation.
Bob was a life member of ACerS, was made a Fellow in 1974, and served as chairman of the Basic Science Division in 1976. His research resulted in over 100 refereed publications. He also held membership in the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers, the Ceramic Education Council, and the American Society for Metals.
Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, two sons, one daughter, and four grandchildren.
