Recycling and reusing ceramics and glass
Reduce, reuse, recycle are the three Rs of sustainable practice. Though it is generally agreed that minimizing raw material consumption, energy use, and dead-end waste production are the main aspects of “reduce,” recycling and reusing can mean different things to different people. The collection below explores various factors for recycling and reuse of glass, particularly glass containers. This is followed by a focus on production and reusability of ceramic materials for physical and catalytic waste remediation and fuel production. At the end are two advanced applications of thermoluminescent materials as radiation and temperature sensors.
