Qingjie Zhang

Professor Qingjie ZHANG is President of Wuhan University of Technology (WUT), Wuhan, China, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, and Chair Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at WUT.

Prof. Zhang received his Masters and Ph.D. degrees in 1984 and 1990, respectively from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He started in WUT from 1990 and became Associate Professor in 1992 and Full Professor in 1994. He became Vice President of Wuhan University of Technology in Oct. 1997 and nominated to be President in Jun. 2010. Currently, he is also Member of the Strategic Consultant Committee for Materials Science appointed by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Vice President of the Building Materials Industry Union of China.

During the last two decades, Prof. Zhang has focused on inorganic non-metallic materials and composites with special function including thermoelectric (TE) materials, energy storage materials, conductive ceramics, and intelligent composite materials. He has published more than 265 peer-reviewed papers in Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Adv. Mater, ACS, Phys. Rev. Letters, Nano Letters, etc. with over 4800 citations and holds many patents. He has received three National Awards for Technological Invention and one National Natural Science Award of China.

His current research interest focuses on thermoelectric materials and its applications. He is now the Chief Scientist of the Chinese National “973” program for Thermoelectric Materials.
