Ted-DayTed Day is the CEO at Mo-Sci Corporation in Rolla, Missouri.  His education began at the University of Missouri (Rolla) where he studied Biology and Life Sciences. He transferred to the Columbia campus, wanting to eventually attend medical school there. He finished up at the Kansas City campus, graduating from their School of Pharmacy in 1986.

After graduation he worked as a clinical pharmacist at multiple locations ultimately becoming the Director of Clinical Services at Phelps Regional Medical Center. He served in this position from 1996 to 1998, then left and became the Executive Vice President of Mo-Sci Corporation. He served in various positions there until becoming owner/CEO in 2007. Since that time the company has grown and comprises a family of 12 separate companies.

Day’s technical achievements include 3 technical publications, numerous technical presentations and 5 U.S. patents. Most of his accomplishments have been related to business growth, innovative product design and new company start-ups. His most recent areas of interest include the applications of borate-based bioactive glass products. These include products designed for wound care, scar revision surgery, haemostatic bandages and dressings, treatment of acne and related inflammatory processes and biologically active coatings for orthopaedic implants. Awards received include Governor’s Technology Award (2003), MOBIO Entrepreneurs Award (2003), Distinguished Philanthropist Award (2011) R&D 100 (2011) and the Missouri Association of Manufacturer’s Founders Award (2015).

He has been a member of ACerS and the Glass and Optical Materials Division since 1998. He served as the Society’s Treasurer from 2010 to 2014. He currently holds the office of President of The Ceramics and Glass Industry Foundation. Mo-Sci received the ACerS Corporate Technical Achievement Award in 2004 for its work in cancer therapies.

Day’s current interests are focused on the successful acceptance of a borate-based bioactive glass fiber submitted to the FDA in April 2016. The products based on this technology have spawned a new technology holdings company and 6 new medical device companies in order to commercialize these products across the world. These products represent a new generation of materials that will cause a paradigm shift in our ability to treat health care related ailments. He continues to pursue philanthropic interests both in our local communities as well as within our industry by presiding on both the Phelps Regional Health Care Foundation and The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation Boards.
