Acme Brick – Birmingham Plant

The Acme Birmingham Brick Plant was originally built by Jenkins Brick in 2006. In 2011, the plant was purchased by Acme Brick. The plant utilizes shale mined onsite as well as cretaceous clay from St Clair County, AL to produce up to 100 million bricks per year in primarily Queen size. Plant equipment includes an AMI primary crusher, Steadman secondary crusher, Reclaimer, JC Steel 90 Extruder, Lingl Setting Machine, Lingle tunnel kiln, and a de-hacker built by Lingle with major modification by Direxa in 2024.

US Brick – Bessemer Plant

The Bessemer Brick Plant was purchased originally built by Dickey Clay Products to manufacture clay pipe. In 1988, the plant was purchased by Bickerstaff Clay Products and modified for brick production. After several mergers and acquisitions (Boral Industries – 1995, Meridian Brick – 2016, General Shale Brick – 2021), the plant was purchased by US Brick in 2021. The plant utilizes weathered and hard shale mined onsite as well as cretaceous clay from Brent County, AL to produce up to 120 million bricks per year in queen and king sizes. Plant equipment includes a JC Steele primary crusher, Stedman secondary crusher, Auto Systems Setting Machine, 2 Swindell Dressler tunnel kilns, and a dehacker built by ASI.
