ACerS Rising Stars

Recognizing outstanding graduate student and postdoctoral research

A competition for emerging researchers

Excellent research comes from excellent researchers, who all begin their careers as students and, often, as postdoctoral fellows. Encouraging emergent researchers leads to them becoming even better as they grow their skills and experiences.

The American Ceramic Society has published the most important ceramics and glass research for more than 100 years. With the growth of advanced ceramics and glass materials, processing, and applications, ACerS grew its portfolio of journals to provide researchers with publishing options to match the scope of their own work.

The editors of ACerS' four journals are pleased to announce the ACerS Journals Rising Star Initiative to encourage and recognize the best work from emergent researchers in ceramic and glass science and engineering at all levels. In this initiative our editors evaluate the manuscripts that highlight the research leadership of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Original research, both Research Articles and Communications, will be accepted for consideration. The authors of the best works will

  • see their papers given editor's choice designation
  • receive a certificate of recognition
  • be invited to present at a special awards session at the 2024 MS&T conference in Pittsburgh, PA.
