The Workshop on Advanced Ceramics for Energy Conversion, held in Vaxholm, Sweden, from 20–23 July 2026, brought together leading researchers from across Europe to discuss recent advances in ceramic materials for sustainable energy technologies. The scientific program covered a broad range of topics, including functional ceramics, catalysis, energy conversion, nuclear materials, advanced synthesis, AI-driven materials discovery, and high-temperature applications, fostering interdisciplinary exchange and stimulating new collaborative research initiatives.
The workshop’s informal format encouraged in-depth scientific discussions, networking, and the development of future joint projects among participants from universities and research institutes. Organized by the Nordic, German, and Italian Chapters of the American Ceramic Society, with support from the ACerS Engineering Ceramics Division (ECD), the meeting underscored the increasingly important role of advanced ceramics in addressing global energy challenges and accelerating the transition to sustainable energy technologies.
