The University Institute of Materials Technology of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), together with the ACerS International Spain Chapter, hosted the event “Frontiers in Advanced Ceramics: From Fundamentals to Industrial Applications” on June 25, 2025, in Valencia.

The event served as a forum for researchers, students and professionals from the industrial sector to address the most current challenges in the development of new surface structures and functionalities for advanced ceramics.

The event, which was attended by around 30 people, began with a workshop at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Distinguished experts in the field of ceramic materials participated, covering topics ranging from the evaluation of the bioactivity and mechanical properties of porous hydroxyapatite-alumina to the latest advances in ceramic materials technology for security and defense.

On the afternoon of the same day, a visit was made to the facilities of the University Institute of Materials Technology. There, attendees were able to learn firsthand about some of the cutting-edge technologies used by this institute for the development and characterization of advanced ceramics.
