To our members and friends in the ceramic and glass community,

This week’s senseless shootings in the United States in Atlanta, Ga., and Boulder, Colo., lead us to affirm that The American Ceramic Society rejects all expressions of hatred. Our hearts unite with our Asian-American members, our members in Georgia and Colorado, and our members and partners in Asia.

The Society, which in its mission and spirit equally serves the global ceramic and glass community, is committed to breaking down racial barriers in our discipline. Our common enthusiasm for solving grand challenges with ceramic and glass materials binds us and leaves no room for artificial boundaries.

We recommit to working with our members and partners to ensure that the exchange of scientific ideas and cultural exchange between scientists and engineers continues uninterrupted in the hopes of catalyzing a new era of peace, dignity, and respect for all peoples.

Sincerely,

The Executive Committee of The American Ceramic Society

Dana Goski, president; Elizabeth Dickey, president-elect; Tatsuki Ohji, past-president; Stephen Houseman, treasurer; Mark Mecklenborg, secretary and executive director
