This year’s Materials Science & Technology conference began on Sunday, and the schedule has been packed with presentations and lectures from some of the world’s top leaders, researchers, scientists, and business people. With thousands of talks, posters, and presentations across 12 theme areas, the meeting has already covered a wide range of materials science interests—and it’s just getting started.
If you haven’t already (and even if you have), stop by the ACerS lounge just outside the exhibit hall at the Columbus Convention Center. Catch up with ACerS staff, spin the prize wheel, and get the latest Society information.
Attendees this year have probably seen ACerS free collectible buttons pinned to people’s lanyards, bags, and lapels. If you haven’t snagged yours, there’s still time to get them by attending choice lectures and events at MS&T15. Simply show up to the event and find ACerS staff handing out the free buttons, or stop by the ACerS lounge to learn more. And remember to #PinYourACerSPride!
(Check out the must-attend list of events to score your own specially-designed, ACerS-only, collectible buttons.)
Anyone who snaps a picture of themselves wearing these super-stylish pins and shares the proof with us on Twitter and/or Facebook with the hashtag #PinYourACerSPride or #MatSciSelfie will be entered to win prizes.
Congratulations to our first winner, Kristen Brosnan! Those pins are lookin’ good!
Down the hall from the ACerS lounge, the Exhibit Hall officially opened on Monday afternoon and welcomed attendees with a reception and a chance to get the first look at the latest materials science technologies and services. The Exhibit Hall is open from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. today so definitely make time to check it out!
Also on Monday afternoon, ACerS held their 117th Annual Meeting, where ACerS President Kathleen Richardson presented the Society’s 2014–2015 accomplishments and passed along the ceramic gavel to Mrityunjay (Jay) Singh, ACerS president-elect. Singh will begin his official duties as president following this meeting.
Monday’s events concluded with ACerS Annual Honors and Awards Banquet that recognized the outstanding contributions ACerS members have made to the Society and the ceramic and glass industry as a whole. (Learn more about this year’s award winners.) Congratulations to all the honorees!
