ACerS is pleased to announce Jessica Rimsza has been selected for Volunteer Spotlight, a program through which we recognize a member who demonstrates outstanding service to The American Ceramic Society through volunteerism.

Rimsza received a B.S. and a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Arizona and the University of North Texas, respectively. After a year and a half as a post-doctorate at Sandia National Laboratories, she was converted to a staff member in 2018 in the Geochemistry Department. Her research focuses on the molecular scale modeling of glass and ceramic materials, with a particular focus on surface properties.

Rimsza has served as past chair and programming chair for ACerS President’s Council of Student Advisors. She co-chaired GOMD 2020, which due to COVID-19, was produced virtually as the Virtual Glass Summit. Currently, Rimsza co-chairs ACerS Education and Professional Development Council, and she is a member of ACerS Meetings Committee.

She is the recipient of the Graduate Excellence in Materials Science (GEMS) award and won the Best in Session Award for Semiconductor Research Corporation’s Techon Conference.

We extend our deep appreciation to Rimsza for her service to our Society!
