Greater Missouri Section and Refractory Ceramics Division to sponsor 59th Annual Symposium, March 27-28, 2024

The Greater Missouri Section and the Refractory Ceramics Division of The American Ceramic Society will sponsor the 59th Annual Symposium on Refractories on the theme “Unleashing Refractory Potential: Root Cause Analysis” on March 27-28, 2024, and a kickoff event will be held the evening of March 26, 2024. The meeting will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, at the Hilton St. Louis Airport Hotel. Co-program chairs are Kenneth Andrew Domann of Rath Group and Brett Ervin of Imerys.

58th Annual St. Louis Section / Refractory Ceramics Division Symposium on Refractories

The 58th Annual Symposium on Refractories on the theme “Refractory Sustainability”  was held on March 29-30, 2023.

David Lipke, interim chair of the St. Louis Section, presided over the section meeting. At this meeting, David presented bylaws that discussed changing the section name to the "Greater Missouri Section" and changing the boundaries to encompass the entire state of Missouri.

ACerS St. Louis Section seeks new leadership and volunteers

Do you want to be part of a local, tight-knit group of ceramic and glass industry professionals? Sections provide a local source of ceramic and glass industry education, information, and interaction.

The St Louis Section is looking for new leadership and volunteers. Section leadership is an opportunity to build your local network, sharpen your leadership skills and grow within ACerS.

Additionally, all ACerS Sections have twenty complimentary Global Graduate Researcher Network (GGRN) memberships to award to local graduate or PhD students. The St. Louis Section is seeking information

The St. Louis Section and the Refractory Ceramics Division are collecting and maintaining a list of all past St. Louis Meeting Symposia. The St. Louis Section and the Refractory Ceramics Division of The American Ceramic Society sponsored the 56th Annual Symposium on Refractories Virtual Meeting on the theme “Properties and Performance of Refractory Ceramics – A Tribute to Richard C. Bradt” on March 24-25, 2021.

St. Louis Section Holds Fall Meeting

The St. Louis Section of The American Ceramic Society held its fall meeting on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Matt's Steakhouse in Rolla, MO.

The meeting began with a tour of Mo-Sci Corporation, a world leader in high-quality precision glass technology. Following networking and dinner, the featured speaker was Dr. Kathy Flores, Director of the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.

Nomination deadline for 2021 Award: December 1, 2020

In December 1967, the St. Louis Section of The American Ceramic Society announced the establishment of  "The St. Louis Refractories Award." This has been provided in Article XII of the by-laws of the St. Louis Section "for the purpose of recognizing and honoring distinguished achievement in the refractories field."

In March 1982, the St. Louis Section voted to amend Article XII of the by-laws. The award was renamed "The Theodore J. Planje -- St. Louis Refractories Award" in honor of his many contributions.
