Alberto Vomiero is a chair professor of Experimental Physics at the Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, and a full professor of Industrial Engineering at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy, where he is also the director of the doctoral program in Science and Technology of Bio and Nanomaterials. He received a MSc in Physics from the University of Padova (1999) and a PhD in Electronic Engineering from the University of Trento (2003).

Dr. Vomiero’s research interests mainly focus on the development of composite nanomaterials for energy harvesting processes and devices, with emphasis on solar cells, luminescent solar concentrators and solar fuels. He published more than 220 articles and 2 patents, cited more than 8700 times, H=54, gave keynote and invited talks at more than 120 international conferences, and organized more than 45 symposia at international conferences in the field of advanced nanomaterials for energy conversion and renewable energies. Dr. Vomiero is an associate editor of Nano Energy, editorial board member of Small and Scientific Reports.

He has been visiting professor at the National University of Science and Technology, MISiS, Russia, at the University of Lorraine, France, at the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, and at the University of La Habana, Cuba, and ASM-IIM Visiting lecturer, India.

He is a Fellow of several societies, including: the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, the Institute of Physics, the Institute of Nanotechnology, former Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellow of the EU, and former Member of the Global Young Academy.

Dr. Vomiero is a member of the Engineering Ceramics Division, has received the Global Star Award in 2017, and is actively involved in symposia organization at ICACC and PACRIM conferences.
