Dr. Yoldas was born in a small town in central Turkey. He arrived in the United States in 1958 after winning a national scholarship to study Engineering. He attended The Ohio State University, receiving three degrees there in Material Science and Engineering.

In his professional life he worked at Westinghouse and PPG corporations as chief scientist and project leader. He conducted pioneering research on ceramic and glass formation by chemical polymerization, leading to novel materials and optical coatings. His work has been a forerunner of nanotechnology in this field. His work has also been featured in “Scientific American”, “Business Week”, and ‘New Scientist”. He taught at Carnegie Mellon University during 1996-2000. He is author  of over 50 scientific publications in journals as well as over 70 patents. He is now retired and lives with his wife in San Diego County.
