ChenC. L. Chen is currently a professor of physics in the University of Texas at San Antonio and a joint professor at the Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston. Before he joined the faculty team at TcSUH (1996), he was the director’s funded postdoc fellow at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.  He recieved his BS degree in Physics from Huaqiao University (1983), MS degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1986), and MS in Physics and PhD in Materials from Pennsylvania State University (1994). His research interests have spanned the areas of design-synthesis-microstructures-properties of interface engineered multifunctional oxide thin films. He was the discoverer of the atomic-exchange diffusion mechanism and the oxygen-vacancy exchange diffusion mechanism.  He has co/authored more than 200 refereed papers appearing in Nature, Physical Review Letters, Applied Physics Letters, Nanoletters, etc, and delivered more than 200 plenary/keynote lectures/invited talks at various conferences or seminars.
