Hiroaki Takeda is an Associate Professor in the Department of Metallurgy and Ceramics Science at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) in Tokyo, Japan. He received his Ph.D. (1998) in Chemistry from Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan, and obtained an M.S. (1995) and a B.S. (1992) degrees in Earth Science from Kanazawa University in Kanazawa, Japan. He joined Tokyo Tech in 2008 from Nara Institute of Science and Technology in Ikoma, Japan, where he was a Research Associate as a faculty member in the Graduate School of Materials Science from 2000-2008, a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Institute of Biomaterials and Bioengineering, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo, Japan, from 1999-2000 and a Research Associate in the Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan from 1998-1999. Prior to working at Tokyo Tech, Takeda was a Visiting Researcher at the Materials Research Centre at the University of Manchester in Manchester, UK for six months in 2007.

Dr. Takeda has authored or co-authored over 150 peer-reviewed technical publications and 5 book chapters. He is a member of the ACerS Electronics Division. His current research is in the area of electronic materials including piezoelectric single crystals for high temperature pressure sensor and bio-sensing applications, and growth technology of mixed crystals with homogenous composition, and lead-free PTC thermistor ceramics for stable heating application.
