Dr. Jiamian Hu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Wisconsin (UW)-Madison at Madison, Wisconsin. He received his BS in Materials Physics from Sichuan University in 2008, PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2013. Dr. Hu worked at Penn State as a postdoctoral researcher from 2013 to 2015 and then a research associate from 2015 to 2017, and he joined the faculty at UW-Madison in January 2018. Dr. Hu has authored and co-authored 78 articles in peer-reviewed journals and held 4 US Patents. He received the Graduate Student Gold Award (2011) and Postdoctoral Award (2015) both from Materials Research Society, as well as the Graduate Excellence in Materials Science Diamond Award from American Ceramic Society (2012). In 2021, he received the Vilas Associate Award for research from UW-Madison. Dr. Hu’s current research focuses on mesoscale modeling of ferroic (magnetic, ferroelectric, and multiferroic) materials and devices as well as microstructure informatics.
