Koichiro Morita is currently the Group Leader on the development of dielectric materials for multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) in the R&D Laboratory at TAIYO YUDEN CO., LTD., Japan.

He graduated Department of Metallurgy, Material Science, and Materials Processing, from Tohoku University. Morita received his M.E. from the Institute for Advanced Materials Processing, Tohoku University. He joined TAIYO YUDEN in 1998 and was a Visiting Researcher at the Materials Research Institute at the Pennsylvania State University, the US from 2004-2006. His research interests focus on the MLCCs, including but not limited to the dielectric material synthesis, fabrication process control, quality evaluation, and failure analysis. Especially he has dedicated his research on improving the reliability of MLCCs. Morita has published 10 research papers and holds 14 registered patents in Japan and 14 registered patents in the U.S.

He currently supervises a basic research team, where the team is pursuing to understand the physical mechanisms behind electrical characteristics of MLCCs. Using the obtained new knowledge on dielectric materials, the team is developing highly reliable MLCCs in the severe conditions of use.
