Michael Sanders is a Research Assistant Professor for the Colorado Center for Advanced Ceramics in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department at the Colorado School of Mines, in Golden Colorado. A Golden native, Dr. Sanders received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Materials Science, and his B.S. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from CSM.

He is currently researching advanced high temperature ceramics for use in concentrated solar energy capture and conversion applications. This includes thermochemical conversion of steam to hydrogen and direct storage of thermal and chemical energy.

His other research interests include fuel cell development and multi-species ionic transport characterization and modeling. In addition to his own work, Michael has directed operation of the MME Thermal Analysis Lab since 2008. Leaning on a decade’s worth of previous experience as a graphic artist, he has had three journal covers published and provided graphics for two scientific textbooks.
