Prabeer-Barpanda-ACerSPrabeer Barpanda is an Assistant Professor in the Materials Research Center (MRC) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at Bangalore. He received his B. Engg. (Ceramic Engineering) at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NITR, India, 2002), M. Phil. (Materials Modeling) at The University of Cambridge (UK, 2004) and Ph. D. (Materials Science) at Rutgers University (New Jersey, USA, 2009). Following this, he spent two years (2009-2010) at the Universite de Picardie Jules Verne (Amiens, France) as a postdoctoral fellow under Prof. J.M. Tarascon. Dr. Barpanda then moved to The University of Tokyo (Japan) as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow (2010-2013). His Ph.D. and postdoctoral research was focused on electrochemical energy storage materials. Since December 2013, he has been an Assistant Professor in India, directing Faraday Materials Laboratory (FaMaL) at IISc.

He has published over 60 journal articles, 20 conference proceedings, 2 book chapters and 3 world patents. His research work has been recognized with the H.H. Dow Award (2007) and the Energy Technology Division Young Investigator Award (2015) by the Electrochemical Society (ECS, USA) and ISE Prize for Applied Electrochemistry (2015) by the International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE, Switzerland).

He has been involved in the Basic Science division of ACerS and a life member of the Indian Ceramic Society (InCerS). His current research dwells on low temperature synthesis, structure, magnetic and electrochemical investigation of battery electrode materials.
