Dr. Simone Falco, is currently a research associate at the Department of Aeronautics of Imperial College London, UK.

He received his Bachelor’s degree (2006), and Master’s degree (2009) in Aerospace Engineering from “Federico II” University of Naples, Italy, and his Ph.D. degree (2015) from the Department of Engineering Science of the University of Oxford.

After achieving his Ph.D. he worked at the University of Oxford as a research associate (2015-2018) collaborating in several projects on both experimental and numerical study of ceramic materials, before joining Imperial College London to work on multiscale modelling of polycrystalline materials.

He has published more than 15 papers on peer-reviewed journals, and given more than 10 presentations at international conferences, focusing mainly on the generation of numerical models of polycrystalline materials, and on the modelling of sintering processes with multi-physics numerical methods.

His current research interests include both experimental testing and numerical analysis of ceramic materials. Experimentally he is interested in studying the high-rate behaviour of materials and systems, by means Hopkinson bar and impact tests.

His numerical work, instead, focuses on the generation of representative micromechanical models, and their use within a multiscale approach for the simulations of the behaviour of ceramics under different loading conditions.
