Steven Tidrow

Steven Tidrow is an Inamori Professor of Material Science and Engineering within the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in Alfred, NY, USA. Steven has been awarded degrees, Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics with Specialization in Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Applied Physics, from Texas Tech University, and, Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering Physics, from the University of Oklahoma.

Within academia since 2007, Steven has previously served as Director of the Sustainable Energy Research Center at Frostburg State University, as Associate Dean for Research and Innovative Education and as Chair of the Department of Physics and Geology at The University of Texas – Pan American. Previous to academia, Steven was associated for sixteen years with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory and its predecessor the Electronic Technology and Devices Laboratory.  Steven has been the recipient of a U.S. Army 2005 Scientific and Engineering Excellence Award, a 2002 Army R&D Achievement Award, a co-recipient for the Material/Product Performance Award at the 1997 International Workshop on Superconductivity, has co-authored two book chapters, has been an editor of two conference proceedings, has published numerous scientific articles, and has been an inventor or co-inventor on at least thirty U.S. patents.

Since joining ACerS in 2000, Steven has primarily been involved with the Electronics Division, serving in various positions from 2005 to present, including Chair (2012-2013) and Trustee (2016-2019). Steven is a currently a member of the Basic Science, Electronics, and Manufacturing Divisions of ACerS and serves on the Strategic Planning and Emerging Opportunities Committee (2015-2018). Steven’s areas of research interest include RF sensing, microwave material and device characterization, materials for energy storage and conversion, as well as RF tunable materials and frequency agile RF components for multi-function RF systems.
