Tsuyoshi Honma is an associate professor in materials science and technology at the Nagaoka University of Technology in Niigata, Japan. He received his Ph.D. (2004) in energy and environment science from Nagaoka University of Technology. After receiving his Ph.D., he joined as a researcher at Mitsubishi Electric Corporation from 2004 to 2005. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Nagaoka University of Technology from 2005 to 2007. He has been working as an assistant professor since 2007 and as an associate professor since 2014.

Associate Professor Tsuyoshi Honma received the Young Investigator Award of the Ceramic Society of Japan in 2009, the JCerSJ (Journal of the Ceramic Society of Japan) Award for the outstanding papers in 2003 and 2012, the CerSJ Fellow from the Ceramic Society of Japan in 2017, and the Vittorio Gottardi Prize from the international commission on glass (ICG) in 2012. His research focuses on the crystallization of glass and the fabrication of functional devices using glass-ceramics. In particular, he is working on developing all-solid-state sodium oxide-based batteries and the processing of crystallized glass by laser irradiation. He is a member of the ACerS Glass & Optical Materials Division (GOMD) and a TC07 member of the ICG.
