Xi Lan received her bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering field at University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2016. From 2016 – today, she is a PhD student in State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy in University of Science and Technology Beijing. Xi Lan won the title of Outstanding Graduate Student and the National Scholarship in University of Science and Technology Beijing. Xi Lan has been authored over 10 papers indexed by SCI (J Am Ceram Soc, J Hazard Mater, Miner Eng, et al.), and 2 papers indexed by EI, and has been authorized 2 patents.

Xi Lan works on the fundamental research and the recovery and application studies of rare earth (REEs) in rare earth bearing slags and ores, which includes the thermodynamic data for phase equilibria in rare earth slags (CaO-SiO2-Ce2O3 system, et al.), the crystallization and growth kinetics of rare earth phases (Cefluosil, et al.) in rare earth slags, the separation and recovery of rare earth phases from rare earth slags by super gravity, and the application of rare earth phases for ceramics and other fields.
