Mo-Sci Corporation was selected for the 2022 Corporate Technical Achievement Award for the commercialization of Mirragen Advanced Wound Matrix, the first bioactive glass wound care product for treating soft tissue injuries. Mirragen technology utilizes a proprietary borate based bioactive glass fiber matrix originally developed at Missouri S&T for the management of soft tissue injuries. Mirragen has a fibrous microstructure that creates scaffold architecture for cells to migrate that will also degrade in a span of several days when in contact with body fluids and releases ions into the wound. These ions serve several useful functions including: recruitment of stem cells to the injury site, antibacterial and antifungal properties, anti inflammatory properties, promotion of angiogenesis (vascular generation), and hemostasis (blood loss control).
