Shibin Jiang

Dr. Shibin Jiang is founder and President of AdValue Photonics Inc. in Tucson， Arizona, and Adjunct Research Professor at College of Optical Sciences, University of Arizona. He received Ph.D. degree in chemistry in 1996 from Universite de Rennes 1, France. He was Co-founder and CTO of NP Photonics Inc before founding AdValue Photonics in 2008. He is also the founder and chairman of the board of AdValue Technology LLC.

Dr. Jiang holds 81 issued patents, edited 32 proceeding books, co-edited 8 journal special issues, authored 92 peer reviewed journal papers, and has h index of 46. He served as chairs of more than 40 international technical conferences including OPTO at Photonics West for SPIE and Advanced Solid State Laser Congress for OSA. He served as many award committees for OSA, SPIE and ACerS, and associate editors for 4 scientific journals. He was the chair for Glass and Optical Materials Division, The America Ceramic Society, in 2014. His research activities generated more than a dozen of the world’s first commercial products in rare-earth doped glasses, fibers, fiber lasers and amplifiers, which are widely used.

Dr. Jiang was awarded with the Gottardi Prize in 2005 from International Commission on Glass, 2012 and 2014 R&D 100 Awards, 2018 R&D 100 Award finalist, the Corporate Technical Achievement Award in 2018 and The Global Ambassador in 2019 from The American Ceramic Society. Dr. Jiang was elected as Fellow of The International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) in 2005, The America Ceramic Society in 2008, The Optical Society in 2011, and an academician of The World Academy of Ceramics in 2020.
