Dr. Wei JI, currently an assistant professor at State Key Lab of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan, China.

He received his BS degree in materials science and engineering in 2009, MS degree in materials science in 2011, Ph.D degree in material processing engineering in 2017, all from Wuhan University of Technology under the mentorship of Prof. Zhengyi Fu. He finished part of the Ph.D work and worked as a sponsored researcher in Department of Materials, University of Oxford, UK during 2015-2016 in Prof. Richard Todd’s group. He has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals, granted 6 patents and given more than 10 presentations at international conferences. He is the reviewer of more than 10 international journals, including J. Am. Ceram. Soc., J. Eur. Ceram. Soc. and Ceram. Int. He joined in ACerS, ECD in 2017. He received the 2019 ECD Global Young Investigator Award from ACerS.

His current research interests include: (1) Fast/ultra-fast sintering technologies of advanced ceramics based on flash sintering (FS), spark plasma sintering (SPS), self-propagating high temperature with quick pressing method (SHS-QP) and fast firing (FF). (2) High/ultra-high pressure sintering technologies of advanced ceramics by plastic deformation as the dominant densification mechanism. (3) Structure/function integration ceramics and composites materials such as ultra-high-temperature ceramics (UHTC) and functional gradient materials (FGM) and (4) High-entropy alloys (HEAs) and ceramics-HEA composites fabricated by powder metallurgy method.
